HARTFORD, Conn. – The second-ranked Trinity College men's squash team suffered their first loss of the season, falling 6-3 to top-ranked University of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon. With the defeat, the Bantams drop to 4-1 on the season, while the Quakers improve to 10-0.
Trinity's victories came from the second, seventh, and eighth spots on the ladder. Senior Benedek Takacs earned a hard-fought 3-1 win over Nicholas Spizzirri (7-11, 12-14, 12-10, 10-12), while Dmytro Shcherbakov cruised to a 3-0 victory (6-11, 5-11, 4-11) against Zane Patel. Marawan ElBorolossy also recorded a 3-1 win (11-5, 2-11, 11-9, 3-11, 5-11) over Abdelrahman Dweek at the #8 spot.
At the top of the ladder, Joachim Chuah was defeated 3-0 by Salman Khalil (11-3, 11-6, 12-10). In the #3 spot, Mateo Restrepo and Ahmed Ismail both fell 3-0 to their UPenn opponents. Daniel Simon (#5) and Huzaifa Ibrahim (#6) each managed to take a set but were ultimately defeated 3-1. The final match of the day saw Andrik Lim drop a 3-1 decision to Varun Chitturi in the #9 spot.
