Ty Trickle Named NEWA Rookie of the Week, Schaeublin Receives All-Tourney Team Honors

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College Wrestling first-year Ty Trickle (Phoenix, Ariz.) was named New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Rookie of the Week and sophomore Alexander Schaeublin (Salem, Mass.) received All-Tournament Team honors for their performances at the NEWA Duals last weekend.
 
Trickle takes home Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season posting a 2-0 record at the NEWA Duals. He opened up the day bumping up a weight class to 141 where he beat returning regional placewinner Monteiro of WNE by tech fall 18-2. In his next match, Ty defeated the current #2 ranked wrestler in the country by the NWCA, Jake Craig of USM, by a 11-2 major decision.
 
Schaeublin went a perfect 4-0 on the day, including three wins by decision. Schaeublin kicked off the event with 6-3 win over Beniamino DiCocco of Western New England, followed by a 21-5 technical fall win over Brody McDonald of Plymouth State. Schaeublin added decision victories against Chris Tringali (4-2) of Roger Williams and Noah Krysztofiak (8-4) of Southern Maine.
 
The Bantams will be back on the mats when they welcome Hunter College and Vermont State University-Castleton to the Trinity Memorial Field House for a tri-match on Saturday, February 1 at 12:00 p.m.
