Trinity Men’s Rowing Opens Season, Honors 2025 IRA National Champions at Head of the Riverfront

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Rowing team opened its 2025 campaign on Sunday morning, competing on the Connecticut River at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta.

During the event, the Bantams honored the 2025 Varsity 8 IRA National Championship crew with a special ring ceremony. Trinity College President Dan Lugo and Athletic Director Gavin Viano were in attendance and shared remarks recognizing the historic achievement before the presentation.

2025 Varsity 8 IRA National Championship Shell:
    - Alenka Doyle (IRA Coxswain of the Year)

What Happened:

  • The Bantams entered four shells in the Men's Open 8+ event, earning finishes of 3rd (12:12.326) led by Wyatt Mills at stroke, 4th (12:26.077) with Luke Burkley-Wohlers stroking, 5th (12:26.560) paced by Henry Drnall, and 6th (12:36.336) with Jack Develin at stroke.

  • Trinity's Men's Novice 8+ impressed with a first-place finish, crossing the line in 11:46.347 under Develin's leadership.

  • In the Men's Open 4+, the Bantams captured 1st place (12:18.486) with Mills at stroke, followed by finishes of 4th (13:01.353), 5th (13:07.287), and 8th (13:17.599).

  • Trinity also placed two boats in the Men's Open 4x, taking 2nd and 3rd, with the Bow 686 shell narrowly edging out Bow 683 by less than a second, 13:35.882 to 13:35.984.

The Bantams return to the water at the Head of the Housatonic Regatta in Shelton, Conn., on Saturday, October 11.
