#4 Men's Squash Claims Convincing 6-3 Win Over #8 Columbia

HARTFORD, Conn. – The fourth-ranked Trinity College Men's Squash team hosted eighth-ranked Columbia University on Saturday afternoon at the Kellner Squash Center, earning a decisive 6-3 victory over the Lions.

In the No. 2 spot, Benedek Takacs showed tremendous tenacity in a four-game battle against Columbia's Shaurya Bawa, clinching the 3-1 win with a hard-fought final game (14-12, 11-3, 10-12, 11-4). Trinity's first-year player in the No. 4 spot, Low Wa-Sern, also claimed a gritty 3-1 victory, overcoming Franklyn Smith in a reverse sweep (4-11, 14-12, 13-11, 11-9).

Trinity's No. 1 player, Joachim Chuah, defeated Arhan Chandra in straight sets, while Huzaifa Ibrahim (No. 5) cruised past Zach Nam 11-8, 11-3, 11-7. Dmytro Scherbakov (No. 8) also earned a straight-set win over Varun Fuloria(11-3, 11-3, 11-9), and Marawan ElBorolossy (No. 9) triumphed over Gonzalo De La Mora in straight sets (11-3, 11-9, 11-8).

The Trinity Men's Squash team will return to action as they host ninth-ranked Cornell on Sunday, February 2nd at 1:30 PM.
