#1 Men's Rowing Claims First NESCAC Championship Since 2008

| By:
WORCESTER, Mass. – The top-ranked Trinity College Men's Rowing team won their fifth New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Rowing Championship and first since their four-peat from 2005-2008, at the 2025 NIRC/NESCAC Championships at Lake Quinsigmond Sunday afternoon.

In the Championship race, the Bantams bested the eight-team field by nearly two seconds, posting a time of 5:39.214, their best time in the NIRC/NESCAC Championship in program history, smashing the mark of 5:43.494 set in 2006. Bates finished second with a time of 5:41.064, followed by Tufts (5:41.930), Williams (5:41.957), MIT (5:42.642) and Wesleyan (5:49.026). In their other races on the day, the Bantams 4V8 boat placed fourth with a time of 6:10.157, the 2V8 vessel took fifth with a time of 6:02.331, and the 3V8 crew finished sixth with a time of 6:04.941.

"It was a fantastic race for the 1st Varsity 8," said Trinity Head Coach Kevin MacDermott. "They seized an early lead and were able to stay ahead of relentless attacks from the outstanding crews in the final.  Most importantly, the victory secured the NESCAC league title and the Automatic Qualifier to the IRA National Championship. Each of the other crews performed well in their morning heats and, unfortunately, struggled to find full traction on the racecourse in the afternoon.  There was outstanding effort from every crew and a tremendous amount of strong work to build off."

Trinity earn an automatic bid to the IRA National Championship, which is taking place May 29-31 in Camden, N.J. The official announcement for the IRA field will be made on May 20.
