SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — The Trinity College men's tennis team opened its season with a strong showing at the Garnet Charger Invitational hosted by Union College, capturing multiple titles across singles and doubles play. The Bantams compiled an impressive 39 wins against just 14 losses, with six of those defeats coming in all-Trinity matchups.
How It Happened:
In doubles, first-year Maxim Kauffmann and junior Andrew Nelson dominated the A flight with a perfect run to the title. Bantam duos completed the sweep, as sophomore Sam Park and first-year Thompson Brown finished runner-up, while senior Brandon Felcher and first-year Maxim Golubenko secured third place.
On the singles side, Trinity claimed championships in the C, D, and E flights. Kauffmann earned the C title with a commanding 6-3, 6-0 victory, Felcher battled through for a 6-2, 3(10)-6(6) win in the D flight, and Brown defeated RPI's Cade Collingwood, 8-5, to capture the E flight crown.
Individually, Kauffmann led the way with a flawless weekend, going 3-0 in singles en route to the C flight title while also pairing with Nelson for a 3-0 doubles record to secure the A flight championship.
