Wrestling Takes Down Ursinus at Manganaro Duals

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Trinity College Wrestling team finished 1-3 at the Manganaro North/South Duals, hosted by Ursinus College, Saturday afternoon. The Bantams fell to SUNY-Oneonta (31-8), McDaniel College (45-10), and Alvernia (27-13), before defeating the Bears, 48-6, in their final match of the day.
 
What Happened:
  • Against SUNY-Oneonta, Trinity collected points behind victories from Cord Vallis (15-0 TF) at 125 pounds and John Lagana (7-5 Dec) at 174 pounds.
  • Against McDaniel, Ty Trickle grabbed a decisive pinfall victory at 141 pounds, followed by a major decision (13-4) from Lagana over Ty Simpson.
  • Versus Alvernia, the Bantams garnered three straight decision wins from Alexander Schaeublin (9-2), Matthew Carrozza (5-3), and Trickle (13-5), but the Wolves responded with six straight wins. Emre Sensoy registered a 7-3 decision victory at 285 pounds.
  • The Bantams won nine of ten matches against Ursinus. Schaeublin (19-4), Daniel Echeverria (18-2), Trickle (17-2), and Andrew Pratt (17-2) won by technical fall, while Carrozza won by major decision (20-6) and Austin Edwards picked up a 9-4 win. Lagana, Luke Hutton and Sensoy won by forfeit.

  • The Bantams will be back on the mats when they travel to New England College for a match on Friday, January 16 at 6:00 p.m.
