HARTFORD, Conn. – The No. 2 Trinity College men's squash team outlasted No. 1 Penn in a top-ranked showdown, clinching a 5–4 victory on Saturday afternoon at Kellner Squash Courts. The Bantams improve to 6–0 overall, while the previously unbeaten Quakers fall to 7–1.
How It Happened
In his debut appearance, Trinity newcomer Muhammad Ashab Irfan (No. 2) earned his first collegiate win in straight games over Penn's Salman Khalil, giving the Bantams early momentum.
Both Benedek Takács and Dmytro Shcherbakov delivered crucial 3–1 victories, each jumping out to a 2–0 lead before sealing their matches in the fourth to push Trinity closer to the finish line.
With the overall score deadlocked at 4–4, the deciding match came down to the No. 4 flight, where Low Wa-Sern secured the clinching point for the Bantams. After dropping two tight middle games, Wa-Sern rallied to take the fourth and fifth in a dramatic 3–2 victory, sealing the win in a battle between the nation's top two programs.
