Senior Day Success: No. 1 Men’s Squash Downs No. 2 Harvard, 7–2

HARTFORD, Conn. – The No. 1 Trinity College men's squash team earned a commanding win over No. 2 Harvard University in a top-ranked showdown, delivering a 7–2 victory Friday evening at the Kovas Squash Center. The Bantams improve to 8–0 overall, while the previously unbeaten Crimson fall to 6–1.

How It Happened

  • Bantams competing in positions five through nine on the ladder displayed grit throughout their matches, collectively going 15–4 in sets. Sophomore Huzaifa Ibrahim earned a five-set victory over Harvard's Maddox Moxham, while Dmytro Shcherbakov and Eyad Awad both secured four-set wins. Shcherbakov completed a reverse sweep against Jacob Lin to clinch the match point for the Bantams. Daniel Simon and Segundo Portabales both swept their opponents in straight sets.
  • Senior Joachim Chuah held strong at the No. 1 position, dropping the opening set before rallying to reverse sweep Harvard's David Costales. Chuah narrowly claimed the second and fourth sets, both by identical 12–10 scores.
  • First-year Muhammad Ashab Irfan delivered a tactical 3–0 victory over Denis Gilevskiy, holding his Harvard opponent to no more than eight points in each set.
  • The only losses on the day came from the third and fourth positions on the ladder, with senior Benedek Takacs falling in a five-set thriller and sophomore Wa-Sern Low dropping a four-set decision.
