NEW YORK, N.Y. – The No. 6 Trinity College women's squash team defeated No. 15 Columbia University Sunday afternoon at the SL Green StreetSquash Center. With the win, the Bantams improve to 7–4 on the season, while the Lions fall to 1–10.
How It Happened
Trinity secured four matches in straight sets, courtesy of Hannah Chukwu (No. 1), Varvara Esina (No. 4), Fabiola Cabello (No. 5), and Elisenda Ruiz-Kaiser (No. 7).
Kara Lincou and Varvara Kliueva each earned 3–1 victories, both rebounding after dropping the second set to take commanding wins in the third and fourth. Kitsy Fox raced out to a 2–0 lead before falling in the third to Columbia's Isha Gupta, 13–11, then answered with an 11–8 win in the fourth to clinch the match. Zaynab Khan also posted a 3–1 victory, rallying after dropping the opening game to claim the next three sets against Advita Sharma.
Columbia's lone point came in the No. 3 position, where Eva Salzman took the first, third, and fourth sets over Trinity's Doyce Ye San Lee. Lee earned a 12–10 victory in the second frame.
