HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College men's tennis team fell, 6-1, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference matchup against the visiting Bates College Bobcats on Sunday afternoon.
The Bantams' lone point came from first-year Maxim Golubenko in the No. 4 singles match. Golubenko delivered a dominant 6-3, 6-1 victory over Bates' Tylan Ozkuzey.
Several singles contests were tightly contested, with all matches extending to third sets. Senior John Pope and sophomore Andrew Nelson each battled into third-set tiebreakers before ultimately falling.
In doubles play, the Trinity pairing of Brandon Felcher and John Pope earned a 6-3 victory. In the No. 3 doubles match, Maxim Kauffman and Andrew Nelson narrowly dropped a 7-6 decision, surrendering the doubles point to the Bobcats.
