HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Softball team closed its season with a 4-1 loss to Colby College Softball in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Tournament hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon.

The Bantams conclude the season with a 20-15 overall record, while the Mules improve to 26-10.

What Happened – Trinity 1, Colby 4

• Colby struck first in the opening inning when Juliana Kiley singled to center field to score Carissa Cassidy from third for the game's first run.
• The Mules extended their lead in the second inning with a two-run triple, bringing home runners from first and second to make it 3-0. Later in the frame, Cassidy grounded out to first base to plate Colby's fourth and final run of the game.
• Senior Kaysen Shikar entered the circle in relief of first-year Erin Connor and recorded the final out of the second inning before settling in to close out the contest. Shikar tossed the final 4.1 innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four on 60 pitches.
• Trinity broke through in the fourth inning when senior Abby Alper singled to center field and later stole second base to move into scoring position. Junior Emily Goddard followed with a double down the left field line on a full-count pitch, driving in Alper for the Bantams' lone run of the afternoon.
• Sophia Meade earned the win for Colby after allowing one run on four hits with six strikeouts across 115 pitches.
