MANCHESTER, Conn. – The Trinity College men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2026 season with a pair of top-three finishes at the George Suitor Invitational at Wickham Park on Saturday morning. The Bantam men placed second in the eight-team field with 78 points, while the women finished third among 11 teams with 77 points.

Men's 5K

• Sophomore Lysander Duffield led the Bantams across the finish line, placing 11th overall with a time of 15:45.9. First-year Brian Smith followed in his collegiate debut, taking 20th in 16:00.3, while sophomore Nielsen Kasser crossed 23rd in 16:03.8.
• Trinity's first-year class continued to make an immediate impact, as Douglas Smith finished 28th with a time of 16:08.7and Tommy Basinger placed 32nd in 16:12.6 to complete the Bantams' scoring five. Trinity's five scorers crossed the finish line within 26.7 seconds of one another.
• First-year Mohamed Mohamed followed in 37th with a time of 16:17.7, while senior Dolan Pols took 42nd in 16:24.1. Junior Tim Hamilton (16:34.2) and sophomore Aaron Roberts (16:40.4) also competed for the Bantams.
• Trinity totaled 78 points to finish second overall, trailing only RPI with 21 points. The Bantams edged NESCAC foe Connecticut College, which finished third with 86 points, while Eastern Connecticut State (89) and Coast Guard (113) completed the top five.

Women's 5K

• Senior Paige Jaenicke delivered Trinity's top individual performance of the day, racing to a fourth-place finish with a time of 18:26.4. First-year Marrietta O'Connell followed with an impressive collegiate debut, placing eighth overall in 18:54.5.
• Senior Ava Del Vescovo gave the Bantams three runners inside the top 10, crossing the line 10th overall with a time of 19:06.8. Junior Paige Orr finished 23rd in 19:38.7, while first-year Maile Shinmoto rounded out Trinity's scoring five with a 32nd-place finish in 19:50.0.
• Sophomore Nora Butterly crossed 38th in 20:01.3, followed by first-year Madison Hussey in 40th at 20:07.3. Senior Annabell Sorensen finished in 20:21.7, while first-year Rachel Quadrato recorded a time of 20:56.1.
• The Bantams totaled 77 points to secure third place in the 11-team field, finishing behind Connecticut College (42) and RPI (61). Trinity finished 12 points ahead of fourth-place Coast Guard (89), while Smith rounded out the top five with 142 points.
