Women’s Golf Ties for 11th; Williams Finishes T5 at Polar Bear Shootout

BRUNSWICK, Me. – The Trinity College women's golf team opened its 2026-27 season with a tied-for-11th finish, 47-over par, at the Polar Bear Shootout hosted by Bowdoin College. The Bantams made a major improvement on the final day, cutting 19 strokes from their opening-round score, while first year Zorah Williams led Trinity with a tied-for-fifth finish at even par.

How It Happened
  • Zorah Williams led the Bantams throughout the weekend, opening with a one-over 74 before firing a one-under 72 in the second round. Williams climbed eight spots on the final day to finish T5 at even par (146).
  • Sophomore CC Kaplan made Trinity's biggest move up the leaderboard, jumping 32 spots during the second round. After an opening-round 83 (+10), Kaplan carded an even-par 73 to finish T36 at +10 (156).
  • Junior Meg Lavinder finished one stroke behind Kaplan at +11 (157), improving five strokes in the final round with a 78 (+5) after opening with a 79 (+6). Lavinder climbed five spots to finish T40.
  • Junior Mia Lombardi also improved in Round 2, shaving six strokes off her opening-round 89 (+16) with an 83 (+10) to finish 77th at +26 (172).
  • Senior Mali Van rounded out the Bantams' lineup at +29 (175), finishing T81 after rounds of 89 (+16) and 86 (+13).
  • Competing individually, first year Amelia Dickerson finished T73 at +23, while sophomore Kira Kilgore finished T78 at +28 and first year Alexandra Young placed 83rd at +30.
Inside the Numbers
  • Trinity finished T11 among the team field at +47, tied with Bates.
  • The Bantams posted a +33 opening round before firing a +14 in Round 2, a 19-stroke improvement.
  • Williams finished the final round one-under par, while Kaplan shot even par, giving Trinity two scores of par or better on Sunday.
  • Williams and Kaplan climbed eight and 32 spots, respectively, on the individual leaderboard.
  • Middlebury captured the team title at +4, five strokes ahead of Bowdoin (+9).
