Men's Golf Take Second at Williams Fall Invitational, Place Three Inside Top 15

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Trinity College men's golf team finished second out of 17 teams following three rounds at the Williams Fall Invitational, carding a 36-over-par team score. The Bantams sat atop the leaderboard through the opening two rounds after posting back-to-back rounds of three-over par, before finishing behind Pomona-Pitzer (+25) and ahead of third-place Babson (+38).
The weather for the final day of the Invitational (Sunday, Sept. 20th) was consistent rain showers all day. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bantams opened the tournament with a three-over-par first round to put themselves in contention for the top spot before matching that score with another +3 performance in round two, taking the lead into the final round.
  • Julian Ragosa led the Bantams individually, finishing fifth overall at five-over par. Ragosa entered the final round at one-under before closing the tournament at +5.
  • Charlie Mullin joined Ragosa inside the top 10, finishing T-8th at seven-over par. Mullin was even through the opening two rounds before finishing at +7.
  • Thomas Chalfant gave Trinity its third golfer inside the top 15, finishing T-15th at +12. Chalfant's second round featured a strong finish with a three-under 33 on the back nine.
  • Parker Kroll finished T-28th at +16, while Brian Campbell rounded out the Bantams' five at T-46th with a +20.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Trinity finished second in the 17-team field, just two strokes ahead of third-place Babson.
  • The Bantams held first place through the opening two rounds, posting consecutive rounds of three-over par.
  • Trinity placed three golfers inside the top 15 and two inside the top 10.
  • Ragosa paced the Bantams with his fifth-place finish, followed by Mullin in a tie for eighth and Chalfant in a tie for 15th.
  • Trinity finished the three-round tournament at +36, 11 strokes behind tournament champion Pomona-Pitzer (+25).

Trinity will head to Bowdoin College for the Bowdoin Invitational Saturday, Sept. 26th and Sunday, Sept. 27th for a 3-round tournament at Brunswick Golf Club.
