Renee Jones

Renee Jones enters the third season of her second stint as a Trinity women's rowing as an assistant coach in 2023-24. Jones was Trinity's interim women's rowing head coach for the 2015-16 season, and guided the Bantams to a 9-3 record in dual races, a fifth-place finish in the New England Rowing Championships (NERC), and sixth-place finish in the National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) regattas. An assistant for three years prior to 2015-16, Jones coached the Trinity novice eight to second place at NERC and a first-place finish at NIRC in her first season, and led the novice boat to an undefeated campaign in 2014.  Jones coached the third varsity to silver medals at both regattas and guided Trinity's second varsity to third place in the 2015 NCAA Division III Championship Regatta in 2015.

In 1988, Jones began rowing for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she grew a strong passion for crew. In 2000, she launched an outreach rowing program in Norwalk, Conn. called “Reach Out and Row” which is still thriving today. In 2005, Jones designed a competitive Master's rowing program for Riverfront Recapture, Inc., which has grown to be one of the fastest Master's programs in New England.  Her strong commitment and expertise with the team brought many local and national titles to the club.  Accomplishments coaching the men’s team over the past several years include medaling in over 10 events in three Master's National Championships, finishing in the top five for team points at all three Master's National Regattas, and finishing in the top 50% for five years at the Head of the Charles.

Jones, who owns a bachelor's degree from UT-Chattanooga in health/physical education and is still actively competing as a Master's rower with Litchfield Hills Rowing Club. She resides in Granby with her husband Chris and has three boys. She has completed the USRowing level 1 and 2 coaching certification programs.
