Bill DeLongis

Bill DeLongis begins his ninth year as head strength and conditioning coach for the Trinity College Athletic Department in 2023-24. He also currently works with USA Women’s Hockey where he is the head strength coach for the U18 National Team and has served as an assistant with the Olympic Team.

DeLongis' eight years leading Trinity's strength and conditioning department have witnessed significant growth, including a full renovation of the varsity weight room and the creation of an internship program designed for up-and-coming coaches. Currently, there are over ten coaches who interned at Trinity before moving on to receive a job at another college. 

DeLongis came to Trinity from Division I Stony Brook University where he was the assistant director for athletic performance for two years. He worked directly with the volleyball, women's basketball, men's lacrosse, and baseball teams and assisted with football at Stony Brook. A former Stony Brook Athletic Performance intern himself (2010), he also ran the internship program. Before Stony Brook, DeLongis served as the head strength and conditioning coach for all 10 sports at Division II Converse College in South Carolina for two and a half years. He also has experience at Infiniti Sports Performance in Bellport, N.Y. and Velocity Sports Performance in Charlotte, N.C.

DeLongis earned his bachelor's degree in physical education with a concentration in fitness and wellness from Winthrop University in South Carolina. He earned his master's degree in experiential learning from Plymouth State University in 2021. 

DeLongis has competed in powerlifting and continues to compete in strongman through the North American Strongman Association. Along with coaching, he has also written sports performance articles for STACK Magazine, Stack.com, Train Heroic, and Breaking Muscle and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and on CBS for using power tools for massage.
