Trinity Falls Victim to Drennan, Wesleyan Volleyball

Hartford, Conn. -  Senior Lisa Drennan (Ann Arbor, Mich.) had 21 kills and four aces to lead the Wesleyan University Cardinals to a 3-1 win over the Trinity College Bantams in NESCAC volleyball action at Ray Oosting Gymnasium this evening.  The Bantams fall to 8-8 on the season and 1-4 in the NESCAC, while the Cardinals improve to 15-4 and 3-1 in the league.

The Cardinals got off to a fast start, going up 6-1 in Game 1 and never looking back, en route to a 25-20 win.  The Bantams answered in Game 2 with a 25-22 win behind the strong play of sophomore Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.) and senior Emily Borsting (Portland, Ore.) to knot the match at one apiece.

Drennan caught fire in Game 3 and carried Wesleyan to two straight wins (25-16, 25-14) to dash Trinity's hopes of an upset.  First-year Alissa Santucci (Syosset, N.Y.) was effective on the front line, contributing ten kills, and sophomore Ruby Hernandez (West Palm Beach, Fla.) added 26 digs for the Cardinals.

Anderson finished with 15 kills and ten digs and Borsting had ten kills to go along with seven digs.  Senior Nicole Cahill (Quincy, Mass.) had 11 kills, and first-year Jennifer Low (San Francisco, Calif.) had 35 assists and 18 digs for the Bantams.
