Hartford, Conn. - Senior Lisa Drennan (Ann Arbor,
Mich.) had 21 kills and four aces to lead the Wesleyan
University Cardinals to a 3-1 win over the Trinity College Bantams
in NESCAC volleyball action at Ray Oosting Gymnasium this
evening. The Bantams fall to 8-8 on the season and 1-4 in the
NESCAC, while the Cardinals improve to 15-4 and 3-1 in the
league.
The Cardinals got off to a fast start, going up 6-1 in Game 1 and
never looking back, en route to a 25-20 win. The Bantams
answered in Game 2 with a 25-22 win behind the strong play of
sophomore Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.) and
senior Emily Borsting (Portland, Ore.) to knot the
match at one apiece.
Drennan caught fire in Game 3 and carried Wesleyan to two straight
wins (25-16, 25-14) to dash Trinity's hopes of an upset.
First-year Alissa Santucci (Syosset, N.Y.) was
effective on the front line, contributing ten kills, and sophomore
Ruby Hernandez (West Palm Beach, Fla.) added 26
digs for the Cardinals.
Anderson finished with 15 kills and ten digs and Borsting had ten
kills to go along with seven digs. Senior Nicole
Cahill (Quincy, Mass.) had 11 kills, and first-year
Jennifer Low (San Francisco, Calif.) had 35
assists and 18 digs for the Bantams.
