Hartford, Conn. - First-year Grace Haessler
(Portland, Ore.) collected 29 assists and added four aces
to lead the Bates College Bobcats to a 3-0 win over the Trinity
College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) volleyball action this evening at Ray Oosting Gymnasium.
Bates improves to 12-12 (1-3, NESCAC) on the season, while Trinity
falls to 10-9 (1-5, NESCAC).
In other action, the Wesleyan University Cardinals defeated the
Bowdoin College Polar Bears 3-0 behind junior Ellika Healy
(Manhattan Beach, Calif.) who had 27 assists and 10 digs
for the Cardinals. Wesleyan improves to 16-5 (5-1, NESCAC)
and Bowdoin slips to 13-11 (2-3, NESCAC).
The Connecticut College Camels defeated the Colby College Mules
3-1, behind sophomore Merissa DeMais (Hillsdale,
N.J.) who had 38 assists for the Camels. Connecticut
College improves to 13-9 (4-2 NESCAC) with the win and Colby falls
to 9-10 (0-4, NESCAC).
All teams wore pink warm up shirts in recognition of breast cancer
awareness, and in support of the Side Out Foundation's "Dig Pink"
effort. Trinity had surpassed their goal of raising $3
thousand before the start of the tournament. For more
