Amherst, Mass. - The Amherst College Lord Jeff volleyball team
avenged a 3-2 non-conference loss to Trinity College by cruising to
a 3-0 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
victory over the Bantams this evening at LeFrak Gymnasium. The Lord
Jeffs move to 19-6 overall and 7-1 in the conference, while the
Bantams fall to 13-11 overall and 2-7 in the league with their
first loss in four matches.
Amherst jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first set en route to a
25-11 win, with sophomore Laura Hyman (Glencoe,
Ill.) and first-year Katherine Kanoff (Pacific
Palisades, Calif.) each recording four kills. The Jeffs
took an early lead again in the second frame en route to a 25-14
win in the second set. The final set was much more
competitive, as Amherst did not pull away until late. Leading
17-16, the Jeffs went on a six-point run and closed with a 25-18
victory. Junior Molly Ullman (Studio City,
Calif.) had five kills and eight digs, while freshman
Sarah Blagden (Charleston, S.C.) added seven digs
for the Bantams.
