Amherst Volleyball Sweeps Trinity

Amherst, Mass. - The Amherst College Lord Jeff volleyball team avenged a 3-2 non-conference loss to Trinity College by cruising to a 3-0 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) victory over the Bantams this evening at LeFrak Gymnasium. The Lord Jeffs move to 19-6 overall and 7-1 in the conference, while the Bantams fall to 13-11 overall and 2-7 in the league with their first loss in four matches.

Amherst jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first set en route to a 25-11 win, with sophomore Laura Hyman (Glencoe, Ill.) and first-year Katherine Kanoff (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) each recording four kills. The Jeffs took an early lead again in the second frame en route to a 25-14 win in the second set.   The final set was much more competitive, as Amherst did not pull away until late. Leading 17-16, the Jeffs went on a six-point run and closed with a 25-18 victory.   Junior Molly Ullman (Studio City, Calif.) had five kills and eight digs, while freshman Sarah Blagden (Charleston, S.C.) added seven digs for the Bantams.
