Middletown, Conn. - Sophomore Kristen Anderson (West
Haven, Conn.) had a team-high 21 kills and a pair of
blocks to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 win over the
Amherst College Lord Jeffs in a volleyball tri-match this afternoon
at Wesleyan University. Trinity fell to the Wesleyan University
Cardinals, 3-1, and is now to 8-7 overall. Wesleyan, which
edged Amherst, 3-2, in the first match of the day, improves to
13-4, and Amherst drops to 12-3.
Amherst and Trinity split two-point victories in the first two
games, before the Bantams stunned the Lord Jeffs with a 25-19 ein
in the third game. Amherst rallied to take the fourth game,
25-21, but Trinity recorded a decisive, 15-10 triumph in the fifth
game for the match win. The Bantams rebounded from a 2-0
deficit to win the third game at Wesleyan, 25-23, but were
defeated, 25-20, in the fourth game.
Senior co-captain MH Nicole Cahill (Quincy,
Mass.) added 19 kills and freshman Emily Guthorn
(Huntington Beach, Calif.) made 18 kills for the Trinity
offense against Amherst, while senior Emily Borsting
(Portland, Oregon) registered a team-high 14 kills, and
Anderson contributed 12 kills against the Cardinals. Trinity
freshman S Jen Low (San Francisco, Calif.) notched
62 assists against Amherst and 35 against Wesleyan, while classmate
Sarah Blagden (Charleston, S.C.) racked up 35 digs
against Amherst and 14 more against Wesleyan.
