Waltham, Mass. - Senior Emily Borsting (Portland,
Oregon) had 22 kills and 20 digs in two matches to lead
the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-0 record on the first day of the
Brandeis University Volleyball Invitational this evening.
Trinity edged the Babson College Beavers, 3-2, this afternoon and
downed the Rhode Island College Anchorwomen, 3-1, in their second
match. Trinity improves to 3-1 and will play Brandeis and
Smith in tournament matches tomorrow afternoon.
Against Babson, Trinity won the first game, 25-21, but lost the
next two, 25-22, and 25-19, before rallying for a 25-18 win in the
fourth game and 15-11 triumph in the clincher. Borsting had
12 kills and 10 digs in that game, while junior Molly
Ullman (Studio City, Calif.) added nine kills, and
freshman Jennifer Low (San Francisco, Calif.)
collected 28 assists.
Trinity won, 25-21, I the first game against the Anchorwomen,
and took the last two games, 25-22, and 25-18. Borsting
notched 10 kills and 10 digs, while freshman Emily Guthorn
(Huntington Beach, Calif.) had 10 kills, and Low recorded
33 assists and six aces.
