Springfield, Mass. - Junior S Rachel Low (San Francisco,
Calif.) totaled 44 assists to lead the Trinity College
Bantams to a 1-1 record in the Springfield College Volleyball
Invitational this afternoon. Trinity downed SUNY-Cobleskill,
3-1, to take its season-opening match this morning, but dropped a
3-2 decision against the host Pride this afternoon.
Low had 21 assists, while classmate Molly Ullman (Studio
City, Calif.) made 18 kills and added four aces against
Cobleskill. Trinity lost the first game, 28-26, but took the
next three by a combined score of 75-41. Against Springfield,
which won three other matches in the tournament, all by 3-0 scores,
the Bantams won the first two games, 25-23, and, 25-16, but the
Pride rallied for a 25-22 win in the third game. Springfield
continued its momentum, outscoring Trinity, 40-25, over the final
two games.
Trinity senior Emily Borsting (Portland,
Oregon) had 13 kills in the Springfield match and totaled
20 kills in the two matches to earn all-tournament honors.
Bantam freshman Emily Guthorn (Huntington Beach,
Calif.) recorded a team-high 15 kills against
Springfield. Low added 21 assists and rookie Sarah
Blagden (Charleston, S.C.) notched 20 digs.
