- Junior co-captain guard Claire Arnstein (Hicksville,
N.Y.) and freshman guard Michelle Royals
(Torrington, Conn.) combined for 33 points and 10 steals
to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 67-50 win over the
visiting Roger Williams University Hawks in women's basketball
action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity improves to
14-2, while the Hawks fall to 5-12.
Trinity never trailed, taking a 5-0 lead early, including a pair
of layups by Arnstein en route to a 33-21 lead the
intermission. The Bantam defense held the Hawks to 31.6 field
goal shooting (6-for-19) and forced 21 turnovers in the first 20
minutes. Trinity committed just four first-half turnovers and
overcame seven missed free throws in 12 tries before the break. The
Bantams shot 52.2 percent from the field in the second half, but
did not improve from the free throw with a 46.7 percentage for the
game (12-for-27).
Royals led all scorers with 18 points and added four steals,
while Arnstein totaled 15 points and six swipes. Bantam
junior forward Christine Card (Waterbury, Conn.)
notched seven rebounds and three steals, and sophomore guard
Kristen Fahey (Cumberland, R.I.) contributed with
nine points and a game-high four assists off the bench.
Senior center Heather Babin (Danvers, Mass.) had
seven points and a game-high 10 boards for the Hawks.
