Clinton, N.Y. - Junior forward Adam Houli (Howell,
N.J.) had two goals and an assist to lead the visiting
Trinity College Bantams to a 6-2 win over the Hamilton College
Continentals in the New England Small College Athletic Conference
(NESCAC) men's ice hockey season opener for both teams this evening
at Clinton Arena.
Trailing, 2-1, midway through the first period, Trinity rattled
off four unanswered goals the rest of the way beginning with the
first career tally for freshman forward Jordan So (Toronto,
Ontario) 9:57 into the game. Just 16 seconds later,
sophomore Sean McCarthy (Duxbury, Mass.) converted
on helpers by classmate Michael DeMayo (Seaford,
N.Y.) and junior Matt Quigley (Pittsburgh,
Pa.) with the gamewinner, while junior Wesley
Vesprini (Lexington, Mass.) held the Continentals
scoreless for the final 41:21 of the game.
Sophomore forward Paul Jaskot (Methuen, Mass.)
and freshman Zachary Lombardi (Locust Valley,
N.Y.) also scored for Trinity, while freshman forward
Stephen Rogers (Watertown, Mass.) notched three
assists in his first collegiate game. Vesprini finished with
27 saves. Anthony Scarpino (Meadville, Pa.)
and freshman Anthony Ruberto (Stoney Creek,
Ontario) scored the Hamilton goals, and freshman
Calvin Bartel (Drake, Saskatchewan) stopped 26
shots in the Continental goal.
