Springfield, Mass. - Sophomore guard Michelle Royals
(Torrington, Conn.) scored 17 points and added four
assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 57-33 win over the
Norwich University Cadets in the opening round of the Golden Bears
Hoop Classic Women's Basketball Tournament this evening at Western
New England College.  Trinity advances to the tourney finals
tomorrow against the Host Western New England College Golden Bears,
which downed Bay Path, 78-30, in its opening round game today, at 2
p.m. 
Trinity led, 29-16, at the break before the Cadets scored the
first four points of the second half to get within nine. The
Bantams tallied nine unanswered points and were never threatened
the rest of the way.  Senior guard Tess Donie
(Worcester, Mass.) netted 10 off the bench for the
Bantams, who received.  Trinity also received nice efforts
from junior guard Kristen Fahey (Cumberland, R.I.)
who netted eight points, and junior center Molly McGlynn
(Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) who grabbed eight rebounds. 
The Bantams received 20 points from its bench players.
Senior guard Ally Daniels (Concord, N.H.) led
Norwich with nine points, three steals, and a pair of blocks.
Sophomore forward Tara Stevenson (Watertown,
Conn.) contributed eight points in a reserve role. Senior
forward Jess Jaggars (Vergennes, Vt.) pulled down
a game high 10 rebounds.
