Hartford, Conn. - Senior Christine Card
(Waterbury, Conn.) scored 10 points, grabbed 17 rebounds
and added six assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams over the
Smith College Pioneers 69-46 in women's basketball action this
evening on Stan Ogrodnik Court at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity
improves to 6-2 overall, while the Pioneers fall to 4-4.
Smith first-year Daron Dean (Bush Praire, Wash)
scored seven first half points to keep the Pioneers within six
points heading into the break. Trinity came out of the half
strong, outscoring Smith 42-27 in the second stanza.
Four Bantams scored in double figures including Card, senior
Claire Arnstein (Hicksville, N.Y.), sophomore
Michelle Royals (Torrington, Conn.), and
first-year Carly Napier (Pittsfield, N.Y.).
Smith senior Lisa Marie Vuono (Lyndhurst, N.J.)
scored a team-high 12 points and added eight rebounds to lead the
Pioneers.
Trinity will face Rutgers-Camden in the opening round of the
Daytona Beach Shootout in Daytona, Fl. on Dec. 29 at 7 p.m.
