Waterville, Maine - Mike Russell (Wellesley,
Mass.) had 13 points and 14 rebounds and teammate
Adam Choice (Newport, R.I.) finished with a
game-high 27 points and nine rebounds, as the Colby College Mules
scored 40 points in the second half on the way to a 67-54 win over
the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's basketball action this
evening. The Mules improve to 14-2 overall and a perfect 4-0
in the NESCAC, while Trinity falls to 9-9 overall and 2-2 in league
play.
Choice had 18 of his points in the second half and Russell, who
had just one point at halftime, scored 12 points. The two combined
for 30 of the Mules' 40 points in the final 20 minutes. Choice shot
11-for-15 from the foul line and added four assists, while Russell
had 10 defensive boards and had three assists. Justin
Sherman (Piedmont, Calif.) added 11 points and three
assists for the Mules, while Christian Van Loenen
(Falmouth, Maine) finished with nine points and four
rebounds.
Junior guard Ian Fels (Miami, Fla.) had 13 of
his team-high 18 points in the opening half for Trinity, as the
Bantams and the Mules played to a 27-27 tie at intermission. Junior
tri-captain forward Luke MacDougall (Baldwinsville,
N.Y.) added 10 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore
center Chris Applegate (High Point, N.C.) had 13
boards and seven points.
