Trinity Volleyball Qualifies for Postseason Play with Win Over Colby

Hartford, Conn. – Senior tri-captain Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.) racked up 27 total attacks, ten digs, five assists, and two service aces to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0 win over the Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) volleyball action tonight at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity improves to 15-7 overall and 4-5 in the league, while Colby drops to 7-15 and 0-8 in the conference.  In other NESCAC action tonight at Oosting Gymnasium, the Wesleyan University Cardinals defeated the Bates College Bobcats in five games.  Wesleyan improves to 9-12 overall and 2-7 in the league, while Bates falls to 7-18 overall and 2-6 in the league.

Trinity sophomore Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn.) and first year Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) combined for 68 total attacks, including 26 kills, while junior Jennifer Low (San Francisco, Calif.) collected 28 assists and picked up nine digs for the Bantams in the first match of the evening. The Bantams earned a spot in the league playoffs with tonight's victory.

In the later match, Wesleyan was led by sophomore Laura Yim (San Mateo, Calif.), who finished the evening with 45 assists, 11 digs, and five blocks.  Junior Casey Reed (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) collected 17 kills for the Cardinals.  Leading the way for the Bobcats was junior tri-captain Chrissy Gee (San Francisco, Calif.), who finished the game with 20 digs, 13 kills, and six blocks.  First-year Jennifer Youngpeter (Mobile, Ala.) had 12 digs and 46 assists for the Bobcats.

Tonight's games are part of a NESCAC volleyball weekend at Trinity, which includes Trinity, Colby, Connecticut College, Wesleyan, and Bates.  Day 2 of action begins at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
