- The visiting Williams College Ephs posted an 83-66
win over the Trinity College Bantams in the New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's basketball regular
season finale for both teams this afternoon at Oosting
Gymnasium. Trinity closes the regular season at 10-13 overall
and 3-6 in the NESCAC, earning the No. 7 seed in the NESCAC
Championship Tournament. The Bantams will play at No.
2-seeded Middlebury on Saturday, February 20 in the NESCAC
Quarterfinals. Trinity has made 10 straight NESCAC
Tournaments. Williams, ranked No. 2 in the nation, ends its
regular season at 23-1 overall and 9-0 in the league, earns the No.
1 seed in the NESCAC Tourney, and will host No. 8-seeded Wesleyan
in the NESCAC Quarterfinal next Saturday.
Williams senior co-captain guard Blake Schultz
(Atherton, Calif.) led all scorers with 27 points and
added five rebounds, making five of six tries from long range,
while sophomore guard James Wang (Sydney,
Australia) added 19 points, four boards, and six assists,
and senior guard Alex Rubin (Chevy Chase, Md.)
chipped in with 14 points and four assists. Williams shot
61.4 percent from the floor (27-for-44) and 68.2 percent from
three-point range (15-for-22). Junior guard Ian Fels
(Miami, Fla.) paced Trinity with 22 points, while
sophomore guard Salah Abdo (Chelsea, Mass.) had 12
points, and sophomore center Chris Applegate (High Point,
N.C.) pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.
