Babson Park, Mass. – First-year Hillary Hoyt (New
York, N.Y.) had wins at the No. 1 singles and doubles
spots to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 8-1 win over the
Babson College women's tennis team this afternoon at Farwell
Courts. Trinity improves to 3-1 while the Beavers drop to
7-9.
Hoyt defeated Babson senior Jes Huang (Andover,
Mass.), 6-3, 6-2, in her singles match, and in the number
one doubles spot, she and partner Olivia Merns (New York,
N.Y.) defeated Huang and sophomore Rebecca Stone
(Dover, Mass.), 8-5. Mearns also won her singles
match at the number five spot, 6-3, 6-3. Also earning two
wins for Trinity was sophomore Kelsey Semrod
(Princeton, N.J.) who defeated Babson senior
Lorena Becerra (Key Biscayne, Fla.), 6-0,
4-6, 1-0 (10-2) at the No. 3 singles position. With partner
Frances Cameron (Mill Valley, Calif.), Semrod won
at the No. 2 doubles spot, 8-5. Cameron also had a singles win at
the No. 6 spot over sophomore Ashley Lake
(Brockton, Mass.), 6-3, 6-0. Trinity junior
Arielle Leben (New York, N.Y.) won her matches at
the No. 4 singles spot, 6-2, 6-0 and at the No. 3 doubles spot with
partner Jillian Steckloff (Framingham, Mass.),
8-0.
