Waltham, Mass. - Freshman OH Danielle Isaman (West
Hartford, Conn.) had 18 kills in a 3-2 win over the
Dominican University Stars and senior tri-captain
RS Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.) added
eight kills and seven aces in a 3-0 shutout of the Babson College
Beavers, as the Trinity College volleyball team opened the 2010-11
Bantam sports season with a sweep in its first round matches at the
Brandeis University Invitational this evening. Trinity
outlasted the Stars with a 15-13 triumph in the fifth set before
cruising to the shutout victory in its second game of the
evening. The Bantams advance to the gold bracket
against the host Brandeis University Judges and the
Mass.-Boston Beacons tomorrow at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.,
respectively.
Trinity junior S Jen Low (San Francisco,
Calif.) totaled 77 assists in the two matches, while
Isaman led the Bantams in kills in both contests with 13 in the
Babson match, and freshman Hannah Brickley (Melrose,
Mass.) made her collegiate debut with 15 kills in the
first game and eight kills and 11 digs in the late game.
Tonight's competition was the first of the 2010-11 sports calendar
for the Bantams.
