Waltham, Mass. – Junior S Jen Low (San Francisco,
Calif.) had 36 assists and three aces and made the
all-tournament twam to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1
victory over the University of Massachusetts-Boston Beacons in the
fourth game of the Brandeis University Volleyball Invitational this
afternoon. The Bantams, who dropped their first match of the
young season, 3-0, earlier in the day against the host Brandeis
University Judges, are now 3-1 overall. Trinity started the
day at 2-0 in the tournament, after wins over Dominican (Ill.) and
Babson yesterday, and end up in third place in the nine-team
field. The three teams all finished 3-1 in the tournament,
while Mass.-Boston took first place. The Beacons are now 8-1
and Brandeis is 7-2.
After losing three close sets in the Brandeis match and falling
behind, 1-0, with a 25-20 defeat in the first set against
previously-undefeated Mass.-Boston, Trinity caught fire and
outscored the Beacons, 50-31, to take a 2-1 lead in the
match. The Bantams won the fourth set, 3-1, as sophomore OH
Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn.) led the way
with 17 kills and senior tri-captain RS Kristen Anderson
(West Haven, Conn.) added 10 kills and 17 digs.
Isaman also had 10 kills and Anderson had eight in the Brandeis
match, while junior tri-captain Sarah Blagden (Charleston,
S.C.) amassed 39 digs in the two matches for the
Bantams.
