Hartford, Conn – Senior
tri-captain RS Kristen Anderson (West Haven,
Conn.) collected eight kills, 14 digs, and four service
aces to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0 win over the
visiting Eastern Connecticut State University warriors in
volleyball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity,
ranked No. 4 in New England, improves to 4-1 with the win in its
home opener, while the Warriors fall to 5-4.
Trailing, 4-3, early in the opening set,
Trinity rattled off 13 unanswered points to take a 16-4 lead en
route to a 25-13 win. Trinity opened the second set with a
9-3 run and went on to a 25-15 win and a 2-0 advantage in the
match. The Bantams never trailed in the third set, but
Eastern Connecticut kept the score close the entire way.
Trinity led, 24-21, with the Warriors serving, and sealed it up
when an Eastern Connecticut kill attempt hit the net.
Sophomore OH Danielle Isaman (West
Hartford, Conn.) paced Trinity with a game-high 14 kills
and added 13 digs, while freshman OH Hannah Brickley
(Melrose, Mass.) added 10 kills and seven digs.
Trinity junior S Jen Low (San Francisco, Calif.)
recorded 37 assists, while junior tri-captain Sarah Blagden
(Charleston, S.C.) notched a team-high 18 digs.
Freshman OH Erynn Miller (Stratford, Conn.) led
the way for Eastern Connecticut with six kills and a game-high 23
digs, while junior OH Samantha Slonski (Griswold,
Conn.) added 17 digs.
