Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore OH Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) totaled a game-high 20 kills with three aces and seven digs to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 win over the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) volleyball action this evening. Trinity, ranked No. 9 in New England, improves to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the NESCAC with its second victory in as many days and its fourth consecutive win over Wesleyan, while the Cardinals drop to 4-12 overall and 1-4 in the league with their second loss in a row.
Wesleyan had leads of 12-7 and, 19-16, in the first set, before Trinity scored seven straight points, including two on aces by junior OH Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn.) to go ahead, 23-19. After the Cardinals stopped the bleeding with their 20th point, Trinity scored the next point, and Brickley closed it out with a kill. Wesleyan jumped out to another early advantage in the second set at 13-6 and led, 15-9, when Trinity rattled off seven unanswered points to take a 16-15 lead. Cardinal sophomore MH Monica Leslie (Newton, Mass.) outscored Trinity herself, 5-2, over the next seven points to give the visitors a 20-18 advantage, but Trinity used a late 3-0 run to take a 24-23 lead. The Cardinals scored the last three points to take the set, as sophomore MH Kim Farris (Atlanta, Ga.) served up one her game-high four aces for the clinching point. Aside from the first point of the third set, Trinity never trailed en route to a 25-16 win, and the Bantams closed out the fourth set and the match with a 17-4 run in a 25-13 triumph.
Bantam senior co-captain S Jen Low (San Francisco, Calif.) notched 41 assists and added three aces and 12 digs, while Isaman had 13 kills, three aces, 12 digs, and two blocks, and senior Alexandra Pell (San Diego, Calif.) recorded 10 kills against just two errors with nine digs. Leslie paced Wesleyan with 11 kills, while freshman S Claire Larson (Chanhassen, Minn.) registered 31 assists, two aces, two blocks, and six digs, and senior co-captain L Jeanne McPhee (San Francisco, Calif.) totaled 20 digs.
