Brunswick, Maine - The Trinity College Bantams posted a 3-1 victory over the Amherst College Lord Jeffs in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals this evening at Bowdoin College. Trinity, seeded No. 4 in the eight-team field, improves to 19-8 with its second victory in a row and its second against Amherst this fall, while the Lord Jeffs end their season at 20-7. The Bantams will play top-seeded Bowdoin in the NESCAC Semifinals tomorrow at 1 p.m. No. 3-seeded Middlebury, which blanked Connecticut College, 3-0, tonight and No. 2-seeded Tufts, which edged Williams, 3-2, earlier today, will play the other NESCAC Semifinal match tomorrow at Bowdoin at 3:30 p.m. The NESCAC Finals will be played on Sunday at Bowdoin at noon.

Trinity, which won its first NESCAC Tournament game since 2005, took the first set, 25-19, and lost the second set, 25-23,before winning the last two in convincing fashion, 25-14, and, 25-19. Bantam sophomore OH Hannah Brickley sparked the Trinity attack with 20 kills and 13 digs, while junior OH Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn.) had 11 kills. Senior co-captain S Jennifer Low (San Francisco, Calif.) distributed 49 assists, while senior co-captain Penelope Carpenter (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) earned seven service aces, and senior L Sarah Blagden (Charleston, S.C.) had 25 digs. Amherst was led by 16 kills from Cristy Meier and 12 from K.C. Kanoff. Devin Pence had a match-high 28 digs while Kristin Keeno had 33 assists.
