Rye, N.Y. - Sophomore Brian Elser (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and junior Brendan Turner (Tisdale, Saskatchewan) combined for four goals as the Manhattanville College Valiant men's hockey team posted a 5-1 victory over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in the first-ever meeting between the two teams this evening at Playland Ice Casino.  Trinity drops to 2-5 with its second setback in a row, while Manhattanville improves to 4-3-1 with its third consecutive triumph.

The scoring started at the 9:06 mark of the opening period, sophomore Luc Van Natter (Fort Erie, Ontario) backhanded the puck past Trinity sophomore backstop Ben Coulthard (South Windsor, Conn.).  Elser scored on a power-play goal later in the first period.  The only goal of the middle frame came off the stick of Trinity sophomore Nicholas Tierney (Reading, Mass.), as he scored on a rebound off an initial shot by junior forward Sabastion Kimmel (Chico, Calif.) in front of the Valiant cage. Valiant goalie Pierre-Olivier Lemieux (Rimouskie, Quebec) turned aside all 10 remaining Bantam shots in the frame and the Valiants headed into the third with a one-goal lead.  The third period saw three more scores comeoff the stick of Turner.  Coulthard finished with 35 saves, while Lemieux has 29 saves.
