Williamstown Mass. - The Williams College Ephs posted a 65-55
win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action this
evening at Chandler Gym. Trinity drops to 13-9 overall and
3-5 in the NESCAC, while the Ephs, ranked No. 19 in the nation,
improve to 20-3 overall and 6-2 in the league with its first
victory in three games.
Trinity junior guard Kaitlin Ciarleglio (Waterbury,
Conn.) had 11 points and six rebounds.Taylor Shea posteda
double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Grace
Rehnquist had 18 points and eight rebounds.
Trinity nissed all eight of its long-range tries in the second
half.
Trinity led, 19-18, on a driving layup by Ciarleglio and a
three-pointer by senior tri-captain guard Kristen Fahey
(Cumberland, R.I.), before Williams went on a 9-3 run which swung
the momentum in their favor late in the first half. Grace
Rehnquist took advantage of a shorter defender and hit a turnaround
jumper on the block. On the next possession Rehnquist came
off a Shea screen and hit a pull up shot from about 10 feet.
With time expiring in the half, Jill Greenberg hit a three from the
top of the key to put Williams up 31-25. Williams carried the
momentum into the second half going on a 6-2 run to start the half,
and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
