Waterville, Maine - Sophomore Chris Menard (Burlington, Mass.) had a goal and an assist and senior goaltender Wes Vesprini (Lexington, Mass.) made 31 saves to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 victory over the Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey action this afternoon at Alfond Rink. The Bantams improve to 10-8-3 overall and 8-7-1 in the conference with their fifth straight win, while the Mules drop to 9-10-2 overall and 8-7-2 in the league.
Vesprini and Colby netminder Cody McKinney each had 11 saves in a scoreless opening period. Trinity went ahead for good when sophomore forward Adamo Miceli (Woodbridge, Ontario) scored at 6:22 of the second period for the lone goal of the opening 40 minutes. The Bantams made it 2-0 on a goal by Menard at 9:27 of the third period. Colby fought back just 40 seconds later when Scott Harff (Watertown, N.Y.) scored on the power play. Senior captain forward Adam Houli (Howell, N.J.) added a late empty net score.
