Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore Chris Menard
(Burlington, Mass.) scored two goals as seven different
Bantams scored in an 8-2 win over Tufts University in New England
Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's ice hockey
action at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center this
afternoon. Trinity is 8-8-3, reaching the .500 point for the
first time this season, after rattling off three straight
wins. Tufts drops to 4-14-1 on the season.
Trinity wasted no time, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first
period, and keeping Tufts at a distance throughout. The
Jumbos cut the lead to 5-2 with a late first period goal and an
early second period goal in the second, but the deficit was too
large for Tufts to recover.
Trinity senior goalie Wesley Vesprini (Lexington,
Mass.) made 12 saves in two periods of action, while
freshman goaltender Benjamin Coulthard (South Windsor,
Conn.) made 10 saves, allowing no goals in one period of
action for the Bantams. Tufts junior Evin Koleini
(Buffalo, N.Y.) made 12 saves and allowed five goals in
less than a period of action, while freshman teammate Brian
Phillips (Colleyville, Texas) made 20 saves in two plus
periods of play.
Trinity last scored as many goals in a game in an 8-0 win over
Assumption College on Dec. 30, 2008.
