Claremont, Calif. - The Trinity College Bantam women's tennis
team lost it New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
opener, 8-1, against the Bowdoin College Polar Bears at Northridge
State in the morning and dropped an evening match at
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps this evening to fall to 2-2
overall.
Trinity sophomore Frances Cameron (Mill Valley, Calif.) won the
lone singles match against Bowdoin, ranked No. 5 in the Northeast
and No. 13 in the nation, 7-5, 3-6 (10-4) in the No. 6 match.
Cameron teamed with junior Kelsey Semrod (Princeton, N.J.) to win
the No. 2 doubles matches against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps
Athenas, ranked No. 21 nationally, while Bantam rookies Elizabeth
Gerber (Bethesda, Md.) and Regan Cherna (Bronxville, N.Y.) won,
9-8, helped Trinity to a 2-1 lead after doubles play in the
nightcap. The Athenas won all six singles matches to win its
eighth in a row.
