Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore Frances Cameron (Mill Valley,
Calif.) pulled put the third set of the No. 6 match, 6-1, to
account for the fifth point and lead the Trinity College Bantams to
a 5-4 victory over the visiting Brandeis University Judges in
women's tennis action this afternoon at Assaiante Tennis
Center. The Bantams improve to 6-4, while Brandeis drops to
9-6 with its third defeat in a row.
Cameron teamed with junior Kelsey Semrod (Princeton, N.J.) to
open the scoring with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles, and the Bantams
led, 2-1, after doubles play. Brandeis sophomore Faith
Broderick (Washingtonville, N.Y.) followed up her doubles win with
a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 singles, and the Judges won three of
the first five singles matches to tie the overall score at
4-4. Cameron and Judge freshman Roberta Bergstein
(Hingham, Mass.) split the first two sets of the deciding match, as
Cameron won the first set, 6-4, and lost the second, 5-7, to set
Cameron up for her heroics. Semrod won her singles match,
6-0, 6-4, at No. 5 and sophomore Hillary Hoyt (New York, N.Y.) took
the No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 6-0, for the Bantams.
