Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore OH Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) notched 19 kills with a .265 hitting percentage and added 15 digs to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0 win over the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) volleyball action this evening. Trinity improves to 4-0 for the first time in at least 15 years with its third straight win over Eastern Connecticut, while the Warriors drop to 7-3 with its first loss in four matches.
In the opening set, Trinity started by scoring five of the first six points and used a 9-3 run to take a 15-6 lead. The Warriors closed to 20-17, but Trinity pulled away for a 25-20 win. Trinity again started strong in the second set, scoring the first four points, but Eastern Connecticut took the lead at 11-10. Trailing, 18-14, Trinity scored 10 of the next 17 points to close to 25-24, and rattled off three in a row to steal a 27-25 win. The Bantams scored six of the final seven points to turn a 22-19 deficit into a 25-23 clinching win in the third set.
Senior L Sarah Blagden (Charleston, S.C.) paced the Bantam defense with 19 digs, while senior co-captain S Jen Low (San Francisco, Calif.) added 35 assists, and junior OH Danielle Isaman (West Hartford, Conn.) had 13 kills and a .222 hitting percentage. Senior Samantha Slonski (Griswold, Conn.) totaled 19 digs and 18 assists for Eastern Connecticut.
