Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Mule men's ice hockey team defeated the visiting Trinity College Bantams, 7-4 victory, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action this evening. The Bantams, who had beaten Colby by the same score earlier this season, drop to 8-10-2 overall and 5-8-2 in the league with their second setback in a row. The Mules improve to 6-14 overall and 3-12 in the league.
Sophomore Charlie Mullan (Buffalo, N.Y.) and rookies Sam Kane (Needham, Mass.), and Paul Burns (New Hope, Pa.) scored three straight goals in the third period to cut Colby's lead to 5-4 with 11:30 to play. Nate Morgan scored for the Mules to up the home lead back to 6-4, and en empty-netter put the game away. Colby's Mike Doherty had one goal and two assists, while Scott Harff added two goals for the Mules, who led, 2-0, after one period an,d 4-1, after two. Sophomore Ben Coulthard (South Windsor, Conn.) had 17 saves for Trinity, and Matt Delaney had 34 saves for the Mules.
