Babson Park, Mass. — The visiting Trinity College Bantams
took two out of three doubles matches and then collected
straight-set wins in all six singles matches to defeat the Babson
College Beavers, 8-1, in women's tennis action this afternoon
at the Farwell Courts. Trinity improves to 5-3 with its
second win in a row, while Babson falls to 11-6.
The Bantams picked up victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to
take an early 2-1 advantage. Their top pairing of junior Hillary
Hoyt (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Senzo Mauve-Maphisa (Bulawo,
Zimbabwe) slipped past Babson's Alex Freeman (Medfield, Mass)
and Sarah Whitaker (Dellwood, Minn.), 8-6, while sophomores Regan
Cherna (Bronxville, N.Y.) and Elizabeth Gerber (Bethesda, Md.) beat
Minte Tamoshunas (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Alexis Ferraro (Coral
Gables, Fla.), 8-1, at the No. 3 spot.
