Box Score 2 Northampton, Mass. - First-year S Randi Whitham (South Weymouth, Mass.) totaled 14 assists, two aces, and a team-high 11 digs to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0 victory over the Brandeis University Judges in the Volleyball Hall of Fame Invitational this afternoon at Smith College. Trinity, which also lost, 3-0, against Springfield in tournament action at Smith today, moves to 14-10 for the season. Trinity took the first set, 25-18, and the third, 25-15, sandwiched around a close win in the second set, 25-23.
Senior tri-captain OH Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) paced Trinity in kills with 13 against only three errors and added eight digs and a block, while senior tri-captain S Amy Hackett (Wallingford, Conn.) added a team-high 20 assists, and sophomore MH Kate Giddens (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) contributed nine kills with only two errors, five aces, five digs, and one block.
In the loss to Springfield, Giddens made 11 kills, two blocks, and eight digs, while Brickley had seven kills, three aces, and six digs. Hackett and Whitham notched 16 and eight assists, respectively. Set scores against Springfield were, 25-15, 25-19, 25-19. Brickley represented Trinity on the all-tournament squad.
