Box Score Stamford, Conn. – Sophomore forward Michael Hawkrigg (Toronto, Ontario) recorded a hat trick, including the game-tying and go-ahead goals, to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 6-3 victory over the Manhattanville College Valiants in men's ice hockey action this evening at Connors Rink. Trinity improves to 6-2, while the Valiantas fall to 6-5.
With Trinity trailing, 2-1, Hawkrigg scored his first goals from rookie forward Sean Orlando (Ivyland, Pa.) into the second period to tie the score. During a Bantam power play, Orlando and classmate Ryan Cole (Anchorage, Alaska) assisted Hawkrigg on his second tally that gave Trinity the lead for good at 3-2 9:31 into the second stanza. Two more Bantam goals in the middle period gave the visitors a 5-2 cushion, as Orlando fed junior captain defenseman Michael Flynn (Cheshire, Conn.) for the eventual short-handed game-winner with 3:53 remaining before the final intermission, and Hawkrigg completed his hat trick 1:43 later.
Manhattanville closed to within two at 5-3 with 1:28 left in the third period on a goal by Louie Balazano, but Orlando answered with an empty netter just 24 seconds later for his fourth point of the evening. Trinity senior goalie Ben Coulthard (South Windsor, Conn.) made 31 saves and Alex Scola had 28 stops for the Valiants.
