Box Score Waltham, Mass. - Senior tri-captain OH Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) had 12 kills to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 victory over the Babson College Beavers in the opening round of the Brandeis University Volleyball Invitational this evening at Auerbach Arena. Trinity wins its season-opening match, while the Beavers fall to 2-3 with their second loss in a row. The Bantams will face the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears and the Rhode Island College Anchorwomen at 2 and 4 p.m., respectively, tomorrow to complete tournament play.
"This was a terrific win," said Trinity Head Coach Jen Bowman (10th Season). "Babson is a very tough team. It was a hard-fought match on both sides. I am very happy we came away with a win."
Trinity first-year L Kristen Cooprider (Hopkinton, Mass.) had 21 digs in her collegiate debut, while sophomores Hunter Drews (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Kate Giddens (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) notched nine and six kills, respectively, for the Bantams. Trinity won the first set, 25-20, and lost the second, 25-21, before taking the two sets, 25-20, and, 25-22.
