Box Score Marlborough, Mass. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams
defeated the Becker College Hawks, 5-3, in men's ice hockey
action this evening at the New England Sports Center. The win
lifts the Bantams record to 9-3, while the Ice Hawks fall to
1-10-2.
Trinity got the scoring started just 4:18 into the game
when sophomore forward Jim Burt (Hamden, Conn.) took a pass
from rookie T.J. Sherman (Chesterfield, Mo.) and slipped it through
the five-hole for a power-play goal. Becker tied that game
6:29 into the second period when Gerald Owen connected with Fred
Hein (North Reading, Mass.), who beat Trinity goalie Nathaniel
Heilbron (West Vancouver, BC.) blocker side. The Bantams took
a 2-1 lead 3:21 into the third period when freshman Ethan Holdaway
(Glastonbury, Conn.) slipped the puck under Becker goalie Greg
Hussey's right leg pad. The Hawks responded 7:36 later when
Hein rebounded a Tyler Auricchio (Henderson, Nev.) shot, tipping it
past the dive of Heilbron for a power-play goal.
Trinity regained the lead 1:21 later when junior forward Jackson
Brewer (Newton, Mass.) netted another power-play goal. Trinity went
in front 4-2 with 4:32 remaining on another Brewer goal, with help
from rookie forwards Ryan Cole (Anchorage, Alaska) and Sean Orlando
(Ivyland, Pa.). With the Hawks' net empty, Trinity was called for
high sticking, giving Becker a two man advantage with 1:09
remaining in regulation. Becker capitalized on the two-man
advantage when Owen drove a one-timer from Justin Erhart into the
net, making the score 4-3. Trinity sealed the victory when Ryan
Cole scored an empty-netter with three seconds remaining on the
clock. Heilbron turned away 27 shots, improving his record to
3-1. Becker goalie Greg Hussey (Medford, Mass.) made 36 saves.
