Box Score New London, Conn. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams lost, 3-1, against the Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) volleyball action this evening. Trinity drops to 11-5 overall and 3-3 in the league with its first loss in six matches, while the Camels improve to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in the NESCAC with their sixth victory in a row. The set scores were 25-20, 25-16, 22-25 and 25-12 in favor of the hosts. Trinity visits NESCAC rival Tufts tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Trinity tri-captain junior middle hitter Kate Giddens (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) had 13 kills, 10 digs, four blocks and three aces to lead the Bantams in the setback. Fellow junior tri-captain Hunter Drews (Clifton Park, N.Y.) fired home eight kills to go with three digs and one block. Sophomore libero Kristen Cooprider (Hopkinton, Mass.) finished with nine digs and a pair of aces for Trinity, while junior setter Gina Buzzelli (Cheshire, Conn.) doled out 11 assists while adding seven digs and block. Sophomore setter Randi Whitham (South Weymouth, Mass.) dished out seven helpers in the loss. Sam Hunter (Palos Verdes, Calif.) erupted with 14 kills, 10 digs, a pair of blocks and one ace to lead the Camels. Alex McDevitt (Medfield, Mass.) chipped in with 10 kills, three digs and three blocks for the winning side. Andy Mullaney (New Canaan, Conn.) buried eight kills to go with two aces, two digs and two blocks for the hosts.
